One Love Lyrics By Bob Marley

One Love is a reggae song by Bob Marley & The Wailers from their 1977 album Exodus. It was first recorded in a ska style by Marley’s original group, The Wailers, in 1965 and was released as a single. This version was later included on their first singles compilation, The Wailing Wailers, in 1973. It contains an interpolation of The Impressions’ song “People Get Ready,” written by Curtis Mayfield.

The song became one of Bob Marley’s best-known songs. Including all the different releases, as well as the various times live versions have been recorded, there are over forty (40) different versions of this song. One Love / People Get Ready peaked at #5 on the UK Singles Chart during February 1978 and #59 in Australia.

While today it is viewed as a revolutionary song dealing with racial oppression, when asked why he did not write more political songs like his contemporaries, Marley told NME magazine, I don’t want to be a politician; I want to be a musician.

One Love Lyrics

One Love Lyrics

One love, one heart
Let’s get together and feel alright
Hear the children cryin’ (One love)
Hear the children cryin’ (One heart)
Sayin’, “Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright”
Sayin’, “Let’s get together and feel alright, woah-woah-woah-woah”

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One love)
There is one question I’d really love to ask (One heart)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinners
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?

One love (What about the one heart?), one heart (What about the—)
Let’s get together and feel alright (As it was in the beginning)
One love (So shall it be in the end), one heart (Alright)
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright
Let’s get together and feel alright, one more thing

Let’s get together to fight this Holy Armagiddyon (One love)
So when the Man comes, there will be no, no doom (One song)
Have pity on those whose chances grows thinner
There ain’t no hiding place from the Father of Creation, singing

One love (What about the one heart?), one heart (What about the—)
Let’s get together and feel alright (I’m pleadin’ to mankind)
One love (Oh, Lord), one heart (Woah)
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright
Let’s get together and feel alright
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel alright
Let’s get together and feel alright
