George Benson also covered the song in his album Tenderly. The song won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song. William Salter has stated that he was inspired to write the lyrics after seeing a photograph of Marcia Weiser (longtime writer for WQXR-FM, who now writes frequently for The New York Times) and her husband in the New York Times Sunday Magazine.
